Alright. Everyone does it. I'm just checking up on the goals and "bucket lists" I have currently rather than making new goals or "resolutions." First of all, I have my list of 30 Before 30. Let's see what I accomplished in the year 2011:
- Become a mother. I was expecting this to happen when I first wrote this list as I was pregnant with Baby Noah. Every morning I wake up to his sweet face I thank my lucky stars for such a fantastic baby. He seriously is so perfect for our family. The name "Noah" means bringer of rest, comfort, or peace. If you look at the Bible stories of Noah (aka Angel Gabriel) each brought peace (Jesus Christ to Mary) or the message of peace to the world (rainbow after flood). His name is completely fitting. I love my Noah.
Well, I am slacking a bit on my list. Many of them are pretty expensive desires, so it may be a while until I get them knocked down.
Now back in August of 2011, I set some goals for the school year to be finished by September 2012. I wanted to revise these goals because I didn't understand the toll motherhood plays on you. It is very hard to do things for yourself. It isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's just difficult is all. Let's take a gander at the new and improved list of goals, and I'll discussed improvements in {these} or just erase the goals I know are unrealistic.
Household Goals:
Unclutter and Organize my entire home
A clean home is a happy home. Keep on top of messes.
Fitness/Health Goals:
Fit back into my pre-pregnancy skinny jeans {Accomplished. Whoot.}
Go walking/running everyday {Except Sundays}
Run a 5k {Starting Couch-to-5k!}
Food-Related Goals:
Try 50 new recipes {15 down}
Create a monthly menu and follow it {Start SOON.}
Try at least 10 new foods I've never had before
Making Time for Myself:
Read 30 Books {This number isn't realistic for me. Read anything whether you finish it or not-just read!}
Complete 50 craft projects
Go on 30 Girls Nights/Outings {Need to do this! I want to have play dates eventually, too.}
Parenting Goals:
Read 100 different books to Noah {Good thing Noah LOVES books. This one will be done soon.}
Sing 3 songs to Noah everyday {The Noah song is his favorite. "Rise and Shine and give God His glory, glory!"}
Make a baby book for Noah {I'm going to pay to have my blog made into a book each year. That way I can make sure photos are included.}
Being Thankful/Giving Back/Connecting:
Send More Cards/Thank You Notes
Talk to a friend or family member everyday {I love this one.}
Make and deliver 12 meals for Friends/Family who need help
Donate to the DI often
Financial Goals:
Pay off a student loan {Tax returns may take this goal off my list.}
Create an emergency fund of $1000
Figure out a budgeting system that works and stick to it {Trying a couple techniques suggested by a friend.}
Pay off half of hospital debt
{Spiritual/Financial Goal: PAY TITHING ALWAYS!}
Educational Goals:
Go back to school in January part time {My two online classes start Monday.}
Major in Human Development and Family Studies {Check}
Marriage Goals:
Go on 50 dates with my husband {We NEED to go to the temple. Monthly. NEED}
Go away together for a weekend {One day when I'm not such a chicken about leaving Noah with someone.}
Make one meaningful connection each day
Read the scriptures together each day {Starting now, well YESTERDAY. Come on, Jeanette}
{Family Goals}
I'm adding this in because I now have family besides the person I'm married to.
{Family Home Evening one night a week that Craig doesn't work.}
{Tell each family member you love them daily.}
Green Goals:
Use reuseable bags. Keep them in the car {Best idea ever!}
Get outside for 15 minutes minimum each day (Weather Permitting)
Spiritual Goals:
Read the Book of Mormon by January 1, 2012 {Didn't accomplish, but changing it to January 1, 2013. I am SO excited we are studying the Book of Mormon this year in Sunday School. I can't wait to dive in!}
Go to the temple monthly with Craig. {See above. NEED.}
Write in a gratitude journal weekly. {I used to be so good at writing in my journal. I don't know why I stopped. I must be better! Blogging isn't the same as journal writing.}
There you have it. I have implemented many of these already, but the most important ones are those that I've put off. Go figure. I stink. Here's to the New Year to get better at it! Happy New Year Friends!!
