I secretly admire so many women around me, wanting to know their advice and how they reached their goals. A friend of mine recently completely a list of 30 things she would like to do before she is 30. After thinking about it for a while, I decided I wanted to do the same. I have a lot of goals, but I always feel the need to get them out in the open to make me feel a little more obligated to achieve them.
So, without further ado, my 30 Before 30!
1. Own a house.
2. Become a mother.
3. Play a Rachmaninoff piano concerto memorized.
4. Go to Seattle.
5. See an opera at the Met.
6. Learn Italian.
7. Record an album.
8. Get a Great Dane puppy named Amadeus.
9. Become one of "those moms" that can cook any and everything.
10. Finish a quilt.
11. Read and finish a book at least monthly.
12. Hike Angel's Landing in Zion's.
13. See the famous arch in Arches.
14. Go to Yosemite to see a bear up close.
15. Pick a new hobby and stick with it: photography, sewing, scrap booking, whatever it may be.
16. Start a family tradition with Craig for a holiday-one that lasts forever.
17. Go to New York again and see a Broadway play.
18. Become a pro at yoga.
19. Get a degree (already).
20. Go out of the country for the first time.
21. Donate my hair to Locks of Love.
22. Move out of the state of Utah for some time.
23. Go to a lighthouse on the coast Maine, like in Cape Town.
24. Learn to play another instrument (cello maybe).
25. Meet and sing with Josh Groban (this is more of a lifetime goal).
26. Take my children to Disneyland.
27. Dive with something scary like sharks or stingrays.
28. Go on walks or bicycle rides with Craig on Sunday afternoons.
29. Stay in a 5 star hotel just so I can wear the fancy robes and slippers.
30. Serve in everything. Find service in my community, church callings, and life callings. I want to give back in some way for everything I have received.
I know a majority of these goals are destinations, but traveling and seeing different cultures in my past already has become a huge part of who I am now. If you want an open mind about the human race, get out of your everyday comfort zone! The most eye opening experience of my life was to see the AMAZING people of the east coast. That's just inside the United States, too. I can't wait to learn and grow by leaving this nation to travel. I want my children to have an understanding that people are different and that is a GOOD thing. Also, I have many musical ambitions. I will always continue to desire to better myself musically, even if it isn't my major or vocation. Everyone can benefit from music, and I want to share that with anyone who wants to learn.
As I am reaching yet another turning point in my life-new apartment and baby on the way-I want to make sure my number one priority is the last on my list of 30. I want to worship my God by serving His children in every way I can. I plan on devoting myself to Him and His work. I also want my children to learn to do the same. I can't wait for this adventure. Craig and I are so excited to get to have a place to call our own. We are grateful that we get to start our family off on the right track.
