January 2014

I don't know about you, but January just flew by for our family. I honestly feel like I lost a week or two there in the middle of the month.

Noah had his first "scary" head injury. The goose-egg that formed almost made me take him to the ER, but I reminded myself that head injuries tend to bleed a lot and swell bigger than any other place on the body. He landed on a sharp corner of a toy truck, and it basically scalped him a bit. He cried pretty hard, which told me it was bad. He is honestly extremely tough, so he shakes of injuries like they are nothing.
Noah and I took a fun day trip with the Dials to Ogden Union Station. We took the Frontrunner, so it was a day full of trains. I love these boys together.

Noah kept running back to this train. He has been so interested in trains, so this was a perfect place for him to look at different trains.

Boys are so curious about the world and rarely have fear to try something new. They climb on everything they can, and they collect rocks.

It was quite refreshing to hold this ADORABLE little girl. She makes me think that I could be a mom to a girl. (I used to never think that I could.) I guess as long as she is chubby and happy like Reagan, then I'd be okay with it.
This baby gate was destroyed by a running toddler named Noah this month.
Noah has been really into "helping" lately. He sees me preparing dinner, and he runs to the utensil drawer to grab teaspoons and says, "I helping!" He gets grabby while grocery shopping. He likes to play in the water while anyone is doing the dishes. I just hope I can use these pictures one day to prove that he LIKES to do chores.

He loves looking at his books. We really wish that the library's story time wasn't just on Thursdays, which just happens to be one of only two days I am in class this semester. Monday story times start back up in March, so we have alerts at their ready to remind us to register! In the mean time, we have a great collection that we have been catching up on that we got for Christmas.

This picture is the death of me. There are times during the day that I am occupied elsewhere (teaching piano lessons, trying to get 30 minutes of study time in, etc.), and when Noah has been so fickle about nap taking lately, the iPad is the go to "keep him safe and in one spot" tool. It's becoming a bad habit of ours, and it's really starting to show. He now asks for "mine iPad." YouTube....why do you have to have so many train and digger videos!? Hey-at least one video he really likes has helped him learn to count to ten! (Justification at its best...)
Speaking of counting to ten...
Noah has a huge interest in learning numbers. If he sees any number, he will randomly blurt out all sorts of numbers. Same with letters. We are working on learning the ABC song right now. He's still stuck on singing "Twinkle, Twinkle" and "I Am a Child of God," but "Wheels on the Bus" is coming in at a close third.
He is very creative lately, too. He loves puzzles and setting up his train tracks in different ways. He isn't perfect at either, but I love the excitement he gets when he figures out that he can put two pieces together. He plays with the train tracks for hours on end. I overhear him as he makes two trains talk to each other. It is so cute, and I am glad he is gaining an imagination!
Lily and Noah. BFFs. Seriously. The day Lily leaves this world will be one hard, tear-filled day for our family. They play together everyday. Noah loves going on walks with her, hiding her Frisbee, and helping Papa feed her.

We love visiting This Is The Place. Correction, Noah loves riding the train at This Is The Place. I love seeing my dear friends that work there. I miss being involved there as often as I was once upon a time. I think I have to visit just to cope with being away from the village. Luckily, it isn't terribly far, and I plan on getting a membership this summer.

Doug got the family tickets to see Mike Birbiglia. I've listened to some of his stand up while on road trips. I laughed pretty hard, and we loved being able to spend time with the Knights sans Noah. If you haven't heard Mike's stuff, check out his YouTube page or two of his movies on Netflix.
Noah has a thing for stickers and temporary tattoos ever since he got a ghost tattoo at my mom's work during Halloween. Hello Apparel sends adorable tattoos when you purchase any child clothing item, so we stuck some on the day we got them!

Craig is having a hard time sleeping this last week because he is "so stressed out about the Superbowl." Ah...my husband...  He loves Seattle sports, so the fact that the Seahawks are playing means that he won't be able to even eat until he sees that they've won. For my sake, THEY BETTER WIN.

Lots of fun was had in the busy, lonely month of January, but we are certainly looking forward to some fun Valentine's activities that we have planned!
