22 Month Update

Our Mr. Noah is just the silliest little boy ever. He is getting his father's "teaser" attitude.

His eating habits are up and down. He eats at least one meal completely each day. The others are just a few bites here and there. He is at an age where he just gets distracted so easily by the littlest things. At a recent doctor's appointment he weighed 27 pounds and measured 34 inches high, but I think he will be going through another growth spurt by fall.

He still is very dedicated to his trucks, cars, and other moving things. He loves getting to watch Pixar "Cars" or "Bob the Builder" right before his nap to wind things down. His Papa Doug loves to have Noah come sit in the office to watch a few YouTube truck/construction videos when he gets home from work. Noah even skips the greetings when he sees Doug and just tells him, "Trucks." I am starting to get a little more strict with his screen time because he really could sit and watch shows like this all day.

I love that Noah has been such a great sleeper. He goes to bed like a champ, usually around 8:00pm. His bedtime routine has changed just a little: bath, sippy cup of milk, much longer stories (he is loving to listen to us read just as much as looking at the pictures now), family prayers, then kisses and hugs before we leave the room. He loves to be tucked in his favorite blanket (so happy we have 3 of the same blanket). I love reading with him at night. He snuggles right into my neck. It is bliss.

His vocabulary has exploded in the past month. He's repeating, or at least giving it a try, almost every word we say. (I keep reminding Craig to be careful with what comes out of his mouth. Haha) For example, Craig, who loves baseball and frequently is catching parts of games, yelled, "Strike Out!" while watching a game. Noah yells even louder, "'TRIKE OUT!" in the same tone of voice. We laugh at the words and phrases he decides to repeat. Another word he recently learned is "Cheers." He takes his sippy cup, hits it against our cups, and says between his cheesy grin, "CHEERZZZZZ." He loves yelling for Lily and Hudson, the two dogs here at the Knight house. He has a hard time saying any word with L in it, except for Lily. He can say it perfectly now. He seriously just loves that dog, his partner in crime.

Now that the school year has started, I wanted to have an hour or two of structured "educational" time for Noah on the days I am home. Other than reading we play with shapes, do arts and crafts, and sing songs like the Leap Frog ABCs. I've seen so many kids learn the alphabet and to read so quickly using the Letter Factory movie. (Thank you Holly for the suggestion!) I have only done this for a week now, and I can see a huge difference in his comprehension and language. We will be starting up story time in a couple weeks, and I am so excited for that now that he really loves books more than he ever has.

We love playing in the "box" (his sandbox in the backyard) and throwing balls for Lily. He loves baseball! I think Craig is indoctrinating him with favorite sports teams already.

I think my favorite little "trick" that Noah does now is smiling on command. We just tell him to say "CHEESE" and he says it with the cheesiest grin!! It warms my heart every time. We love that he is such a happy boy. He is so independent and self entertaining. I find him making up little games with himself all the time. He must have a great imagination already!

We can't believe he's almost two! Kids really grow so quickly from one month to the next. We sure love you Stinky Face!
