Six Weeks

My baby boy is 6 weeks old now. I can't believe how fast that went by. I knew it would because of the holiday season and such, but I totally understand why every parent always says how fast their children grow. It is 100% true! I am doing my best to soak in every moment.

A friend of mine blogs a monthly update of her son. I love the thought of having that to look back on and seeing the difference from month to month, so I am sort of using the idea. I hope she doesn't mind. (THANKS MANDY!)

Noah at one month!

Noah is the easiest going baby I've ever met. Since birth, his cry has been so soft. I hear other newborns with shrill cries, and I feel bad for the parents. I mean when he is mad, he does cry, but it is a low, soft cry. I don't know how else to explain it. I am glad he isn't a colicky baby who cries a lot.

I have been so lucky to have him be such a fantastic eater. Breast feeding was something I knew I wanted to do. I have heard so many horror stories about how awful and hard it is, so going into it I was nervous. Within the first hour of life, Noah self latched and probably won't be giving up "the boob" (as Craig constantly says) for quite a while. Born at 8 pounds 12 ounces, at six weeks Noah is now a chubby 13 pounds. Other moms I know say their babies were 13 pounds at 4 month check ups, so I am assuming Noah is pretty big. His 2 month checkup isn't until after the new year, so we shall see what percentile he is now in.

Noah didn't stay in his newborn diapers and clothes for very long. He now is wearing 3 month sizes and size 1 diapers. He still has a full head of hair, unless you count the small bald spot that's slowly getting bigger right at the crown of his head where he lays. His hair is getting much lighter in color, and it is thinning a bit compared to what he was born with. I sure hope if I have a girl one day that she'll get his thick locks! His eyes seem to be getting bluer and bluer everyday. I don't know if they will stay blue, but he would be such a heart breaker if they did!

Auntie Katie and Noah

My little Rock Star!!
Noah has been called many nicknames up to now. When he was first born, he had the longest fingers. This brought about the nickname "Salad Fingers." {If you haven't seen that YouTube video, check it out HERE. It's strange, I know.} I also have called him "Rachmaninoff" because of his long fingers. I call him "Sweet Cheeks" followed by kissing of his chubby cheeks almost on a daily basis. I love those cheeks! Craig and I usually call him "Buddy" on most days. Other nicknames include "Little Man," "Jedi" (well, Craig has called him that once or twice), "Mister" or "Mr. Noah," and "Stinky Bum" (usually after he has filled his pants).

Bed Head!

Moving those Salad Fingers around
Noah is a FABULOUS sleeper. I've swaddled him since day one, and I am a firm believer that is what has helped him most. This past week he has slept through the night (6-7 hour stretches). I think it's premature to say he is sleeping through the night, but he is certainly on his way!! Now we just need to start the move from the bassinet in our bedroom to the crib in his bedroom. I think that will take a bit to get used to. He might just be staying in our bedroom a bit longer due to my laziness. I don't want to have to get out of bed to feed him when he wakes. My favorite thing to do is lay in bed with him in the mornings after Craig has left for work/school. I love how happy Noah is in the mornings!

So serious. LOVE THOSE SHOES!

Noah loves his Papa Doug.

Noah LOVES bath time. I'm so happy about that. I love that he smiles before, during, and after. It's like he gets super excited that he gets to take a bath. His hair gets super curly when wet, just like his dad. His arm movement is becoming a bit more controlled now, so he tries to tap and splash the water. It's so cute.

So Happy!

Noah is a Binky baby. I totally support the Binky for a few reasons, but the biggest reason is that it soothes him. I'd rather give him a Binky that can be later taken away than for him to become a thumb sucker. It's a bit harder to take a thumb away. When he is fussy (and doesn't have any problems such as diapers or feedings that need to be addressed) his Binky usually puts him right to sleep.

This is what happens when he falls asleep too quickly with a Binky. HILARIOUS!
We love our Noah. I am loving being a mother. It has come pretty easy for me to love my son and take care of his needs. He is such a great baby. It's more than I could ever ask for!
