The Wedding Planner

Planning a wedding is fun. I have been in the business for a few years now with working at This Is The Place and at Heritage Gardens. You would think I would know exactly what I want, and don't want. The last half of the sentence is true. I know exactly what I do NOT want, but I'm struggling with making decisions. I think it is because I really, really want to make it perfect, and I don't think the perfect I want is the same perfect as everyone else. I am such a "people pleaser" when it comes to decisions like the ones I am having to make right now. "What will so and so like?" "What color looks best on so and so?" "What will so and so think if I do this?" These are all questions that have been constantly circling my head.

Now, I want to make sure I tell you I have the best support right now possible. I have no doubt that my wedding will end up being the best day of my life. My parents are both being very helpful and loving. They are excited for me and Craig. Craig's parents, as well, are incredibly willing to do anything to help make the day great. Thank you to the parental units for loving, caring, and supporting us. We love you.

There is just one thing I want for this wedding of mine-simplicity. Simplicity is my best friend. I want to have everything be elegantly simple. I want to have the feeling of peace and calm the entire day of the wedding. The reception needs to be a fun, relaxing celebration. "Christ taught in simplicity while on earth; but we need to remember that that kind of simplicity is the product of a supreme genius." I am so grateful to know that when I marry Craig, it will be for eternity. That is what this whole ordeal is about-we're getting married! I need to remember that when making decisions like what flavor of cake I want or what centerpieces to have.

But for now, the planning continues, and all parties will have some form of stress. It's expected I suppose. Here are some pictures of some ideas I love:

Purple is the color I'm going for. I love this color!! The accent colors will be green and black.

I love this bouquet with all of my heart:

I was thinking of have tall vases with rocks in the bottom and these allium coming out the top for centerpieces.
Cake idea...not sure I like the frosting decore, but the purple ribbon and flowers are gorgeous.
This dress is awesome. I can't wait to go try some on!!

School is back in, and I love my classes. This will be a fun semester for me!! (Although, it will be so long! It stinks not having Craig down here with me.)

I love the bouquet. I had a dark pink and purple wedding. The cake is also very pretty. Just remember, it's not about what anyone else wants or what they will think. It's about what you and Craig want and think. Everyone else has to deal with it. :) Good luck with everything!

Looks really cute so far!! Seriously, I think you're going perfectly with the simplicity thing - less hassle is best, too. Make sure everything is what YOU love - heck, you're gonna be lookin' at the wedding pictures at the rest of your life on your wall! :)

I personally did not like planning my wedding which is probably why it was so simple. But I loved it. One of the best things Heidi and I did that we bothed loved was marriage one day and reception the next. Brought the rushing and stress level way down. Not saying this is something you have to do, jsut saying it is something we loved. We made our eternal seal and then we were gone the rest of the day to just enjoy it. Relaxed the next day while we got ready in plenty of time..etc.. Anyway. Just a thought. Just remember--there is no need to stress, it only brings uneeded, well stress:) Oh and wededing invitaions are way overrated and people spend way too much time and money wanting them to look perfect (people just want the picture and info:) I know of a great inexpensive route if you are interested! I love the bouqet! You can look into my mom's friend Lynn about the cake. She is awesome and did all of us kids cakes.
Okay I am rambling I actually have even more opinions about weddings, but not sure you really care or not:) My little soap box will end now. Just glad you are happy!
(oh one last thing--start gathering addresses now. Make every family member gather there own of who they want invited. Will make it easier and getting addresses is the WORST part of the whole thing in my again rambling opnion)
